Town of Davidson Events

July 4 (Monday) – Town of Davidson Fourth of July Celebration - 6-10 p.m., McEver Field - The annual celebration will begin with a parade that will start at Town Hall at 6:15 p.m. and end at McEver Field. Participants are encouraged to march in the parade dressed in Independence Day attire. Scheduled activities at the field include carnival games, prizes and concessions. General Johnson and the Chairman of the Board will perform from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Fireworks will follow at dark

Parking is available in downtown Davidson at Davidson United Methodist Church, Davidson College’s Baker Sports Complex, and the Cotton Mill on Depot Street. Free shuttle service from each site will be provided.

July 17 (Sunday) – Concert on the Green, Huntersville Brass – 6-8 p.m., Village Green – There is no charge to attend the concert and listeners are invited to bring lawn chairs and a picnic. This year’s series sponsor is the McIntosh Law Firm. Visit www.concertsonthegreen.com for a full schedule.

July 31 (Sunday) – Concert on the Green, Piedmont Prime Time Community Band, sponsored by Dula Real Estate – 6-8 p.m., Village Green – This concert, originally scheduled for June, has been rescheduled to July. The Band features Cynthia Lawing, a pianist and professor at Davidson College. The concert will include Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and many other favorites. August 27-28 (Saturday-Sunday) – Major League Baseball Weekend – The Parks and Recreation Department has planned a wonderful opportunity for viewing some great baseball by some great teams. Participants will travel to Baltimore to watch the Orioles vs. Oakland A’s on Saturday, spend the night in the Baltimore area, and then attend the Washington Nationals vs. St. Louis Cardinals game on Sunday. Fee is $140 per person and the registration deadline is Friday, August 5th. All ages are welcome, but minors must be accompanied by an adult.
