March 21 (Saturday) – Rummage Sale

(Town Green, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) – Davidson Parks and Recreation is hosting its seventh annual community rummage sale. More than 20 families participated in the 2008 event. Items for sale include furniture, kitchen items, clothing, books, children’s toys, bicycles and much more. Contact the Davidson Recreation Department for booth space and more information. Tailgate at eh Davidson Farmer’s Market

You do not need to wait until spring to enjoy locally produced food! Visit the Tailgate at the Davidson Farmer’s Market every other Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Shop now for pastured beef and pork, locally grown produce and baked goods. Tailgate Saturdays: April 4, and April 18. The location is near the regular market site – downtown Davidson in the parking lot off Jackson Street, beside the Davidson Fire Department.

Davidson Senior Scholars Programs

Held on the second and fourth Wednesdays, 2:00 – 3:30 p.m., Davidson Parks & Recreation office (Room A, 416 Armour Street) – Programs are designed to stimulate continual intellectual and cultural growth. The general meeting format consists of lecture followed by question and answer. The speakers, often Davidson College professors and local physicians, are experts in their fields. Programs are free! Eggstravaganza

April 5 (Sunday) –(North Mecklenburg Park, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.) – Join Davidson, Cornelius, and Huntersville Recreation Departments at their annual Egg Hunt. Bring your own basket and have fun searching for candy filled eggs, getting your face painted, visiting with Peter Cottontail, or sliding down the giant slide. The event is FREE and open to children age 10 and under.

Lake Norman Senior Fun & Fitness Day

April 21 (Tuesday) –(Jetton Park, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) – Come and celebrate your health with fun and free fitness activities, including blood pressure checks, a 1.4 K Fitness Walk, 12 fitness stations, and free chair massages. A healthy lunch will be provided. A registration fee of $2.00 will be collected at event check-in. Pre-registration is preferred. To pre-register, please call 704.892.4041. The event is sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Departments of Davidson, Cornelius, and Huntersville, the Lake Norman YMCA, and North Mecklenburg Senior Services.

Town Day

May 2 (Saturday) –(Village Green, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) – The annual spring “Town Day” festival fills the Village Green with carnival games, foods, arts, vendors and entertainment for the whole family. Check local newspapers in April for an event listing. Businesses and organizations who wish to participate should contact Angela Blashaw with the Parks & Recreation Department at 704.892.3349.

50+ Coffee Club

Come and join friends and neighbors every Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at the Parks & Recreation Department (Armour Street) for coffee, snacks and a social opportunity. No registration is required – just show up!

2009 Summer Camps

Registration is underway for all youth summer camp opportunities: Arts, Science, & General (ages 6-14); Arts, Crafts, & Games (rising 1st – 5th graders); Music (ages 5-14); Preschool (ages 3-5); Sports (ages 5-15).
