Humor is the great thing, the saving thing. The minute it
crops up, all our irritations and resentments slip away and
a sunny spirit takes their place.
                    — Mark Twain (1835 - 1910)

                  For
the past two years, I have tried to entertain our neighborhood
with a little April Fool’s Day humor. It has not always
been obvious which articles and issues were in jest and for
that, I feel a strange sense of satisfaction. Last year’s
article about tearing up our newly paved roads and going
through the process again, after four years of agony, found
many believers. Some were distraught by the thought. Others
were elated because we might finally be rid of the numerous
white markings, particularly around Clemens Place. But whatever
the response, I seem to have brought a smile to many folks
in the end. After all, a “road virus” seemed
almost easier to combat than the giant rabbit that terrorized
                    the neighborhood in 2005!
This year again finds me in rare form. If you but choose
to believe, you will remain in fear for yet another year.
