

| Davidson College EventsApril 1 (Friday) -- The Davidson College Jazz Ensemble 
            will present a free public concert. Millner Professor of Music Bill 
            Lawing will lead the ensemble in pieces by Duke Ellington, Buddy Rich, 
            Charles Mingus, Oliver Nelson, Miles Davis, and Bobby Timmons, beginning

            information.  April 1 – May 4 – Davidson College’s Belk 
            Visual Arts Center presents several exhibitions throughout 
            the month. From April 1-15, the William H. Van Every Gallery hosts 
            Break Thy Leg: Art and Design from the Royal Shakespeare 
            Company Collection. The Smith Gallery will feature exhibitions throughout 
            the month of work by senior art majors Ashley Brown, Katie Miles-English, 
            Bree Simmons, and Laura Filosa. From April 21 through May 4, both 
            galleries will feature the college’s annual Juried Student 
            Exhibition, displaying the work of dozens of art majors and 
            non-art majors. There is no charge to see any of the exhibits, which 
            are open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays, and noon to 4:00 p.m.

April 6 (Wednesday) – Dr. Rudolph Tanzi, a Harvard Medical School researcher of the genetics of Alzheimer’s disease, will present Davidson College’s annual Smith Lecture. The title of his talk is “Genetic Insights into Novel Therapies for Alzheimer’s Disease.” There is no charge to attend the talk, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in Duke Family Performance Hall.             in conjunction with several other environmental agencies, will host 
            the fifth annual Reptile Day on campus at the Baker-Watt 
            Science Complex from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event is part of 
            the college’s Earth Month activities and visitors may interact 
            with amphibians and reptiles and learn more about the condition of 
            the herpetofauna in the Charlotte area. For information, call 704-894-2727. April 13 (Wednesday) – The Davidson College Concert Choir presents its spring concert at 8:00 p.m. in the Davidson College Presbyterian Church. There is no charge. Call 704-894-2357 for information.  April 15 (Friday) – April 19 (Tuesday) – Davidson College 
            students will present the Shakespearean play Much Ado About 
            Nothing. The performances begin at 7:30 p.m. on April 15, 
            18, and 19, at 10:00 a.m. on April 16, and at 2:00 p.m. on April 17. 
            All performances will be in the Lilly Family Gallery in Chambers Building, 
            with exception of an off-campus performance for the Sunday matinee. 
            Tickets, which are $4, are available at the door except for the Sunday

April 20 (Wednesday) – The Davidson College Symphony Orchestra will present a free public concert at 8:00 p.m. in Duke Family Performance Hall. Call 704-894-2357 for information. April 21 (Thursday) – The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra will present a concert featuring Bach’s Violin Concerto No. 2 in E Major and Mozart’s Symphony No. 36 in C Major.
