Davidson Farmer's Market

Saturday (8 a.m. to noon), Downtown Davidson next to Town Hall between Main and Jackson Streets - The Davidson Farmer’s Market returns to its weekly schedule on Saturday, May 1st, in conjunction with Davidson Town Day. The producer-only market features more than 30 local producers selling a wide variety of locally grown vegetables and fruits, meats, eggs, honey, dairy and fresh flowers as well as baked goods, soaps and farmer-made crafts. Themed market days, cooking classes, musical entertainment and educational activities are planned throughout the season. Commissioner Chat, May 18 (Tuesday)

Town Hall Board Room (6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.) – The Davidson Town Commissioners will hold one final town-wide meeting for residents who may have missed their neighborhood meeting. These chats will allow residents to meet with commissioners in an informal setting to discuss specific issues and topics related to their neighborhood, as well as larger town-wide issues.

Concert-on-the-Green Series

Village Green (6:00 – 9:00 p.m.) – Downtown Davidson, Inc. continues this popular event for spring-summer 2010. All concerts are FREE and open to the public. Families and friends are welcome to bring picnics and relax to the music. There are seven scheduled concerts. The next three concert dates are listed below. [Note: Concert days are not all on Sunday as in the past. Several concerts are scheduled on Friday to allow people to take advantage of an early dinner in Downtown Davidson, followed by a relaxing concert. Concerts start at 6:30 p.m.] Arrive early to get a good spot on the Green!

  • June 18 (Friday) – Entertainment TBA
  • July 3 (Saturday) – Independence Day Celebration (TBA)

Davidson Senior Scholars Programs

Second and fourth Wednesdays (1 – 2:30 p.m.), Davidson Parks & Rec office (Room A, 416 Armour Street) – The general meeting format consists of lecture followed by question and answer. The speakers, often Davidson College professors and local physicians, are experts in their fields. Programs are free! Call 704.892.3349 or visit the Town of Davidson website and click on “Parks & Recreation” for more information and specific programs. The only scheduled program at this time follows:

May 12 (Wednesday) – “Magical Moments & Mishaps at Radio City Music Hall” – For many years, Pat Mose (Davidson resident) was a solo soprano at Radio City Music Hall, and also performed with the Metropolitan Opera. She will entertain us with anecdotes, recordings, and photos from her illustrious career.

These programs are increasing in popularity and are attracting great attendance. Don’t miss an excellent opportunity to learn from the experts!

50+ Coffee Club

Come and join friends and neighbors every Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at the Parks & Recreation Department (Armour Street) for coffee, snacks and a social opportunity. No registration is required.

2010 Summer Camps

Registration is underway for all youth and pre-school summer camp opportunities: Arts, Science, Crafts, Music, and Sports.
