Season Opens for Davidson Farmer’s Market

(Village Green, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) – The annual spring “Town Day” festival fills the Village Green with carnival games, foods, arts, vendors and entertainment for the whole family. Other children’s activities will include inflatables, a sand box, and a duck pond. The “Flex Flyer” will return! Businesses and organizations who wish to participate may register by completing a registration form available at the recreation office. Downtown Davidson, Inc. brings back this popular series for spring-summer 2009. The concerts are held on Sundays from 6 – 8 p.m. and are free and open to the public. Families and friends are welcome to bring picnics and relax to the music. Each concert features a picnic theme. Second and fourth Wednesdays, 2:00 – 3:30 p.m., Davidson Parks & Recreation office (Room A, 416 Armour Street) – Programs are designed to stimulate continual intellectual and cultural growth. The general meeting format consists of lecture followed by question and answer. The speakers, often Davidson College professors and local physicians, are experts in their fields. Programs are free! May 13 (Wednesday) – “Aging Research at Davidson College” – Dr. Multhaup will describe several projects that she and her students have completed in recent years.
April 5 (Sunday) –(North Mecklenburg Park, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.) – Join Davidson, Cornelius, and Huntersville Recreation Departments at their annual Egg Hunt. Bring your own basket and have fun searching for candy filled eggs, getting your face painted, visiting with Peter Cottontail, or sliding down the giant slide. The event is FREE and open to children age 10 and under.
Come and join friends and neighbors every Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at the Parks & Recreation Department (Armour Street) for coffee, snacks and a social opportunity. No registration is required.
Registration is underway for all youth summer camp opportunities: Arts, Science, & General (ages 6-14); Arts, Crafts, & Games (rising 1st – 5th graders); Music (ages 5-14); Preschool (ages 3-5); Sports (ages 5-15).
