Your Help Is Needed!
Clemens Square Water Feature
At the Membership
Meeting for budget approval last August, there was considerable
discussion regarding the cost and upkeep of the water feature in
Clemens Square. The Koi fish had recently died and replacement
and maintenance appeared costly. However, it was the consensus
of those present that the feature be maintained as originally intended
if costs could be minimized.
To that end, a good fountain service,
Norwood Creek Water Gardens of Statesville, was contracted at a reasonable
price to maintain Clemens Square and the front fountain on St. Alban’s
Lane. In early April, Norwood cleaned the Clemens Square water feature
and removed rocks from the pond to allow for installation of water
plants and the reintroduction of gold fish. However, upon returning
a few days later to complete the task, someone had put most of the
rocks back into the basin.
The Association wishes to continue with
plans to replace the water feature as intended in early May, but
would like to make a special request to residents for help in keeping
visitors and children in the neighborhood from playing directly in
the water and to help keep foreign articles and rocks from being
thrown into the basin. The original kill of the Koi fish may have
been the result of contamination. Children should be cautioned not
to play on or remove rocks that are currently in place. Steps are
being taken to remove the extra stones currently on pallets.
The Landscape & Grounds
Committee wishes to thank residents of the neighborhood for your
help in keeping this area as a unique attraction.
Next Painting Project to begin in May
Agreement
has been reached with Foreman’s Painting Company
for our 2006 Painting Project, with work scheduled to begin on May
15. The main part of the project includes Buildings F, G, H, I and
J (the five townhome buildings on South Faulkner Way). The project
includes any carpentry repairs and preparation needed prior to painting.
Residents should be notified in advance of this work.
Foreman’s Painting Company will also touch-up the remaining
75 townhome units (balcony handrails, bay windows, etc.) that may
have received wear or minor paint damage during the pressure washing
project earlier this year. In addition, outside staircases leading
to Casitas on North Faulkner Way, Harper Lee Street, and O. Henry
Avenue (total – twelve) will also be painted as many have demonstrated
unusually poor paint wear.
If you have questions regarding the scope or schedule for this work,
please contact Hank Howell, chairman of the Townhome Building Maintenance
Committee (e-mail hankhowell@bellsouth.net or
phone 704.987.0363).
Small Reminder . . .
As appropriately printed on the statue above (located
in a neighborhood yard), please pick-up after your dog throughout
the community and in the parks, including the off-leash park at the
north end of the development. Now that parks have been turned over
to the Town of Davidson, it is particularly important to keep them
clean for children’s activities and general enjoyment.
Neighborhood Covenant
The Covenant is the primary document outlining restrictions and
regulations for our community. All owners should have been given
a copy of the Covenant at the time of closing. If you were not given
a copy or cannot locate these documents, you may obtain a copy from
Abbott Enterprises, Inc. at a cost of $35.00 ($15 handling fee to
Abbott and $20 copy fee to the Association). If you have not already
done so, it is important to take time to read these documents. You
may also download in pdf form from the documents
page.
The Covenant Committee meets on the first Tuesday of the month.
As issues are discussed and questions regarding restrictions develop,
the newsletter will highlight parts of the Covenant and keep residents
informed. If you have concerns or input, please contact Kathy Cox,
Chairperson for the committee, or Steve Baker, Council of Stewards
representative on the committee.
