Every Morning (7:00 a.m.) – The Board Walkers meet at the corner of Twain Avenue and the intersection of Mary Jane McConnell and Miriam G. Tuttle Byways to begin their 50 to 60 minute walk around the area. If you would like more information, please call Bonne McCoy at 704-987-1877.

SEEDS Community Garden

SEEDS Community Garden is located in our neighborhood along the gas pipeline to the east of St. Alban’s Church. This garden has grown in popularity and is expected to expand. If you are interested in being a part of this “growing” experience and want to add your name to the list, please contact Pat Mulholland, secretary, at pdmul@bellsouth.net.

Neighborhood Dinner Group

March 20 (Tuesday) - The group will return to traditional Italian fare at Il Bosco Ristorante (127 Depot Street, next to Davidson Inn).

April 17 (Tuesday) - The dinner will be held at Epic Chop House (104 South Main Street, Mooresville – former location of Soiree).

Looking for Something Fun and Different?

Women

New Da Daytimers Book Club: This very active book club meets every third Wednesday of the month at 10 a.m. For more information about the Book Club, please call Lovenia Summerville, president, at 704.987.8574.

Men

March 8 (Thursday) & April 12 (Thursday) — The Men’s Group Breakfast will meet at the Cookhouse Restaurant (Shoppes on the Green complex, I-77 exit 28 in Cornelius) at 7:30 a.m. The men have their breakfast on the second Thursday of each month. St. Alban’s Church – Neighbors Welcome!

March 11 (Sunday, 3:00 p.m.) – 2011-2012 Concert Series – “Mark Sterbank Jazz: Jazz Vespers” – The Mark Sterbank Jazz Group, Spoleto favorites, unite the elements of inspiration and improvisation with swinging enthusiasm. From its inception, the group has exhilarated audiences by combining jazz’s rhythmic drive and creativity with the familiarity and meaning of old church songs. A favorite of audiences of all ages, the Mark Sterbank Jazz Group is sure to lift your spirits and set your toes to tapping.

May 6 (Sunday, 3:00 p.m.) – 2011-2012 Concert Series – “Sitka Trio & Friends” – The Sitka Trio (Shira Kammen – vielle, violin; Letitia Berlin – recorders, douçaine; Frances Blaker – recorders) will be joined by cellist Barbara Blaker Krumdieck and lute and guitar player William Simms. This larger Sitka ensemble makes it their mission to explore music from many centuries, from both the traditional (folk) and classical repertories.

March 18 (Sunday, 7:00 p.m.) – St. Alban’s Spirituality in the Arts: Images of Resurrection in Film – Using film clips, participants will look at how resurrection constantly takes place in their lives. The session will begin with a brief introduction on “How to Really See a Movie.” Discussions will follow each film clip, lead by Reverend Sheila D. Ennis, former Minister of Education at Myers Park Baptist Church and now Director of The Educational Center (2009 – 2012). Join this uniquely different event! Free with donations accepted. A reception will follow.
