March 14 – April 16 – Tonya J. Clay: Mindscapes in a MultiPlied Moment – Van Every/Smith Galleries, Katherine and Tom Belk Visual Arts Center – Mixed media artist, Tonya J. Clay, is the 2006-08 Davidson College Visiting Professor of Art. Reflecting on her work, Clay says, “I expect my paintings to have strong psychological and emotional impact on myself as I go through the process of making them, and on viewers as they experience the finished work. My art represents the internal world of emotion and psychic activity, the essence of being human.” There will be an Opening Reception and Gallery Talk by the artist on Thursday, March 13 (7-9 p.m.).

The Every/Smith Galleries are open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends from noon to 4 p.m. Programs are free and the public is welcome. For information, call 704.894.2519.

March 29 (Saturday)– Concert Series: Liviu Prunaru, violin – Tyler-Tallman Hall, Sloan Music Center (7:30-9:00 p.m.) –Romanian violinist Liviu Prunaru has won top prizes and gained international recognition at all of the most prestigious international violin competitions in the world. He currently serves as Concertmaster of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam. Tickets are available at the door, online, by calling 704.894.2135, or by visiting the Union Box Office in the Knobloch Campus Center. Davidson College Sports Calendar

“March Madness” is here! The Wildcats have had a great season and now it is time for the Southern Conference Finals and Championship games (Men’s and Women’s Varsity Basketball). Join the excitement in Charleston, South Carolina, from March 6 through March 10.

The spring brings more great sports opportunities. The Men’s Varsity baseball season started on February 23. Men’s and Women’s Varsity tennis is underway and there are Track & Field events for both men and women in March. The Women’s Varsity lacrosse team is also well into the 2008 season.
