All Neighbors Welcome

Every Morning (7:00 a.m.) – The Board Walkers meet at the corner of Twain Avenue and the intersection of Mary Jane McConnell and Miriam G. Tuttle Byways to begin their 50 to 60 minute walk around the area. If you would like more information, please call Bonne McCoy at 704-987-1877.

Neighborhood Dinner Group

The Neighborhood Dinner Group will meet on Tuesday, January 20, at North Harbor Club at Davidson Landing. As usual, the evening will start at 6:00 p.m. with a social hour, followed at 7:00 p.m. by dinner. A menu will be sent to the e-mail list each month in advance of the event. A special meeting room at North Harbor Club has been reserved for our neighborhood group. Please let Arvind know by Sunday, January 18, if you plan to attend. Dinner next month is planned for Bravo Restaurant at North Lake Mall (Exit 18 south off I-77) on Tuesday, February 17. Arvind will mail out details and a menu in early-February. Don’t miss the fun and great food of this event each month. Our thanks go to Arvind Patil for varied and well planned dinners!

Women

Women’s Bridge Club
The group meets on the second Wednesday of each month. For more information about the bridge club, please call Jean Gilcrest at 704.895.0839. New members are needed.

New Da Daytimers Book Club

Men

January 8 (Thursday) and February 12 (Thursday) - Men’s Group Breakfast will meet at the Cookhouse Restaurant (Shoppes on the Green complex, exit 28 in Cornelius) at 7:30 a.m. The men have decided to continue their breakfast each month at the Cookhouse Restaurant location. January 25 (Sunday, 3:00 p.m.) - 2008-2009 Concert Series, “The Farallon Recorder Quartet – Renaissance to Jazz: A Recorder Retrospective” – The Farallon Recorder Quartet gives inspiring performances of a vast and varied repertoire extending across time and genre. The quartet performs on numerous types of recorder from renaissance to modern, from six inches to six feet tall, exploring the full range of the instruments’ abilities. A great concert for the entire family!

March 1 (Sunday, 3:00 p.m.) – 2008-2009 Concert Series, “Ian Howell, countertenor, with Tableau: Handel’s Inheritance” – Join Ian Howell and Tableau as they explore the music behind the man who wrote Messiah. Georg Frideric Handel was the greatest German composer of Italian music ever to work in England. Enjoy music for voice and strings by composers who directly influenced the master and music by Handel, including the Italian cantatas on which he modeled some of Messiah’s most famous choruses.
