April 3 (Saturday) and April 17 (Saturday) – Winter Tailgate Market (9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) – Join the “mini” version of the Farmer’s Market. Available items include pastured beef, pork, chicken, freshly baked breads, cakes, pies and cookies, assorted cold-weather produce including lettuces and greens, sweet potatoes, root vegetables and winter squash, soaps and more . . . The Tailgate Market is located between Main Street and Jackson Street in downtown Davidson next to Town Hall. Reminder: The regular Saturday morning Farmer’s Market opens in May.

April 16 (Friday) April is for Arts Gallery Crawl Throughout Davidson and Cornelius (6:00 – 9:00 p.m.) – Local businesses transform their spaces into lively art galleries for a night and join local galleries for a traditional Gallery Crawl. The Crawl will reach from Exit 30 to Main Street. Davidson galleries, businesses, schools, Town Hall, Cornelius Town Hall, Cornelius businesses, and the Community Arts Project will host visiting artists, including some that will be featured at Art on the Green. Park in Davidson or Cornelius and have a great time riding the trolley to all the stops! Refreshments and music are included and enjoyment is FREE!

April 24 (Saturday – 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) and April 25 (Sunday – noon – 4:00 p.m.) - Art on the Green, Davidson Village Green – This enormously popular event brings thousands of people to Davidson to enjoy art, live music, and food. This juried art festival features booths filled with top quality art works from artists throughout the region. Artists from the Community Arts Project and the juried show will be on hand demonstrating their talents. Join the town for an exciting weekend filled with visual, musical, and culinary arts!

April 25 (Sunday) - Concert-on-the-Green Series – Village Green (6:00 – 8:00 p.m.) – Downtown Davidson, Inc. brings back this popular series for spring-summer 2010. The first of the concerts for this season will showcase Davidson College Symphony and Davidson College Jazz Ensemble. All concerts are FREE and open to the public. Families and friends are welcome to bring picnics and relax to the music. Davidson Senior Scholars Programs

Davidson Senior Scholars Programs - Second and fourth Wednesdays, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., Davidson Parks & Recreation office (Room A, 416 Armour Street) – Programs are designed to stimulate continual intellectual and cultural growth. The general meeting format consists of lecture followed by question and answer. The speakers, often Davidson College professors and local physicians, are experts in their fields. Programs are free! April 14 (Wednesday) – “Medicare and Social Security” – There will be two speakers, one on Medicare and one on Social Security. The discussion will focus on recent changes & the future of these social programs and how they impact us.

Town Day

May 1 (Saturday) – Town Day (Village Green, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) – The annual spring “Town Day” festival fills the Village Green with carnival games, foods, arts, vendors and entertainment for the whole family. Check local newspapers in April for an event listing. Businesses and organizations who wish to participate should contact Angela Blashaw with the Parks & Recreation Department at 704.940.9645.

50+ Coffee Club

Come and join friends and neighbors every Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at the Parks & Recreation Department (Armour Street) for coffee, snacks and a social opportunity. No registration is required.
