St. Alban’s Episcopal Church sanctuary

Diane Ruggiero, Executive Director
Creative Art Exchange
“Art Within Reach”

The Creative Art Exchange is a not-for-profit organization that inspires creative exploration and builds community through the arts in North Mecklenburg. Formerly known as the Icehouse Center in Davidson, the Creative Art Exchange has recently opened in the Oak Street Mill location (behind the police station) in Cornelius. The center offers class opportunities in ceramics, digital photography, painting, print making, and drawing. Special workshops are offered as well as children’s programs, including a children’s summer camp experience. The new location features a large gallery area for display of varied art subjects and artists.

The program on April 9 will provide an overview of the organization and discuss what is included in classes that are offered in the arts. The Grand Opening for the new location is scheduled for April 20, so the Discussion Group will provide a fun kick-off for residents in New Neighborhood who will want to take the opportunity to learn more and possibly re-kindle artistic talents in one of the many classes. Some residents may also find an interest in signing up as a volunteer.
Don’t miss this program! It could spark a new creative interest or talent!

For program suggestions, contact Bill McCoy (phone 704.987.1877 or bonneiskate@aol.com) or Sherman Kahn (phone 704.655.8965 or wa8lit@aol.com).

Volunteers Needed
At the March meeting of the Men’s Group Breakfast, restarting Men’s Dinner Night was discussed. This was an event held every other month for a couple of years. There is still interest in this activity, but a volunteer is needed to organize and make arrangements. Strong interest was also expressed in organizing another Neighborhood Dinner in the near future. If there are volunteers for either of these events, please call Dave Smith at 704-987-1472 (e-mail at davidbsmith@bellsouth.net).
