Neighborhood Discussion Group

Candidate Forum 2008

Thursday, September 25 (7:30 p.m.)

Tentative plans are to conduct the forum in a similar manner to previous years. There will be introductory comments by each candidate, followed by a moderated Question & Answer session.

Mark your calendars now and become an informed voter! This event is open to the public and has been publicized throughout North Mecklenburg County, particularly within the Town of Davidson and surrounding neighborhoods. We are expecting a good turnout.

Amazing Maize Maze at Rural Hill

Beginning Thursday, September 11, and every Thursday through Sunday until November 2, the “Amazing Maize Maze at Rural Hill” is back. Hours begin at 10 a.m., with the last tickets sold by 5 p.m. each day. [Adults - $10; Children 5-17 yrs. - $7; Children under 4 yrs. – Free] There will be three special “Flashlight Mazes” on September 19, October 10, and October 31. [Tickets for “Flashlight Mazes”: Adults - $15; Children 5-17 yrs - $10] Flashlight Maze tickets are sold between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. This year’s theme is the “U. S. Constitution” and will challenge your skills in problem solving as you explore a story about the Constitution. Learn how it came to be by finding Kernels of Knowledge as you make your way to Victory Bridge.

For those that may be unfamiliar with the format, this is a corn (maize) field maze that is indeed challenging for young and old alike. It is a wonderful family event. Many students attend with their classes during weekday times. Church and social groups will also find the challenge to be fun and perhaps competitive.

Rural Hill is a 265 acre historical site in Huntersville that was the original homestead of Major John Davidson and his family. This is the location of the Lake Norman Highland Games and other events during the year. The location will also host the “Rural Hill Sheep Dog Trials” on November 8 & 9 this year.

For further information about Rural Hill and this year’s maze, visit www.ruralhill.net.

It’s more than just a little cornfusion!
