The Last Page

For the first time in nearly five years, I will not be serving as a member of the St. Alban’s Neighborhood Council of Stewards. During my time on the Council, I served as Vice President for just over two years and in the position of President for two years. It has been a richly rewarding and positive experience for me. Our neighborhood has become everything we thought it would be (and more) and I feel sure that it will only get stronger under the current leadership of the Council of Stewards, the hard working chairpersons of our seven committees, and numerous volunteers.

The decision to step down this year was hard in some respects, but so important to me personally in other ways. Not least among my reasons is a little 19-month old granddaughter who dearly loves her “Bapa.” Many of the residents and friends in this neighborhood know exactly what that kind of motivation can mean, especially if it is a first grandchild. ( . . . and there is a second one on the way!) I long to finally complete my dream model railroad layout, a goal which keeps getting put into the background with each passing year. I also want to continue my artistic interests, but thankfully, I do not need income from that quest!

In parting, I want to thank all of you who have helped me so much during my time on the board. I have learned more than you’ll ever know and I feel blessed. Please continue to call on me at anytime.

I will continue to publish the newsletter so, although this may be the “last page,” I still can have the “last word.”
