The Candidates Forum on Thursday, October 22 was a big success. Special thanks go to Bill McCoy and Sherman Kahn of the neighborhood and to David Boraks of DavidsonNews.net for their efforts in making this happen. As always, we also want to thank St. Alban’s Episcopal Church for allowing us to host this event in their sanctuary.

Neighborhood Dinner Group

The Neighborhood Dinner Group will meet on November 17 (third Tuesday) at Caruso’s Restaurant (631 Brawley School Road, Mooresville). [It is located in the shopping center at the intersection of Williamson and Brawley School Roads, to the left of Lowes Foods.] As in the past, the cocktail hour will begin at 6:00 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. Owner Pasquale is offering our group free appetizers and a double wine serving at $5 each. Mark your calendars now for Christmas Dinner on December 15 at Toast Restaurant in Davidson. Our Neighborhood Dinner Group will have exclusive use of the restaurant on that evening and special treatment. We hope for a great turnout!

Women

November 11 (Wednesday) - Women’s Bridge Club will meet at 1:00 p.m. at the home of Erna Brandenburg (133 Harper Lee Street). If you plan to play, please call Erna at 704.892.0194. November 16 (Monday) – The Women’s Group Breakfast will meet at The Egg at Davidson Cafe (Sadler Square Shopping Center on Griffith Street, next to Home Economist Market) at 10:00 a.m. If you want more information or need directions, please call Phyllis Twitty at 704.896.6328.

November 18 (Wednesday)The New Da Daytimers Book Club will meet at the home of Luann Christine (117 North Faulkner Way) at 10:00 a.m. This month’s book for discussion is The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. Men

November 12 (Thursday) - Men’s Group Breakfast will meet at the Cookhouse Restaurant (Shoppes on the Green complex, exit 28 in Cornelius) at 7:30 a.m. The men have decided to continue their breakfast each month at the Cookhouse Restaurant location. Rural Hill Sheep Dog Trials
November 7 and 8 (Saturday and Sunday)

Bring your kids and dogs out to the farm! The 15th Annual Sheep Dog Trials will be held for prizes and points. Witness the top sheep dogs on the east coast in competition and view demos by Greater Charlotte Sheltie Club sport dogs. The event includes livestock & tractors, traditional music, kid’s games, a bake sale, “Punkin’ Chunkin’” and hay rides. Rural Hill is a 265 acre historical site in Huntersville that was the original homestead of Major John Davidson and his family. This is the location of the Lake Norman Highland Games and other events during the year.
