Every Morning (7:00 a.m.) – The Board Walkers meet at the corner of Twain Avenue and the intersection of Mary Jane McConnell and Miriam G. Tuttle Byways to begin their 50 to 60 minute walk around the area. If you would like more information, please call Bonne McCoy at 704-987-1877.

Neighborhood Dinner Group

The Dinner Group will meet at Thai Marlai (I-77 Exit 28, Cornelius) at (6:00 p.m.). This restaurant is considered to be the best in the Charlotte area for Thai cuisine and is a favorite spot among many neighbors. The details are not finalized yet, but Arvind Patil will be notifying everyone by e-mail early November. Plan to attend and do not miss the great food and fun of being with great neighbors!

Women

November 12 (Wednesday) - Women’s Bridge Club will meet at 1:00 p.m. at the home of Marcia Williamson, 308 O. Henry Avenue. The group meets on the second Wednesday of each month. If you plan to play or would like more information about the bridge club, please call Jean at 704.895.0839.

November 17 (Monday) – The Women’s Group Breakfast will meet at The Egg at Davidson Cafe (Sadler Square Shopping Center on Griffith Street, next to Home Economist Market) at 10:00 a.m. The group will continue to meet on the third Monday of each month. November 19 (Wednesday) - The New Da Daytimers Book Club will meet at the home of Rita Simpson (128 South Faulkner Way) at 10:00 a.m. This month’s book selection is The Greatest Generation by Tom Brokaw. Men

November 13 (Thursday) – Men’s Group Breakfast will meet at the Cookhouse Restaurant (Shoppes on the Green complex, exit 28 in Cornelius) at 7:30 a.m. The men have decided to continue their breakfast each month at the Cookhouse Restaurant location. St. Alban's Church — Neighbors Welcome!

November 2 (Sunday, 3:00 p.m.) 2008-2009 Concert Series, “Beethoven to Broadway” – Live from New York! Tenor Steven Oosting and Russian-American pianist Mark Pakman perform arias and songs from the concert hall, opera house, and Broadway stage. The program includes works by Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Bernstein, Sondheim, Rogers & Hammerstein, and more. November 15 (Saturday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.) – Christmas Bazaar at St. Alban’s – The women of St. Alban’s invite their neighbors to share in the fun of this annual holiday bazaar. Come early during Friday set-up for an informal pre-sale starting at 11 a.m. Featured items will include a silent auction and several raffles at $1 per ticket for special gifts, including gift certificates for many local restaurants. Shop for high-quality crafts and art, knitted scarves, vintage jewelry, and olivewood items from the Holy Land. And food! This is the place to ease your holiday worries. Bring your children on Saturday for face-painting and other fun. Best of all - your shopping dollars will go to Hope House and to Episcopal Relief and Development. Do your shopping, do your meal planning, and do good for others – all at the same time!

14TH ANNUAL RURAL HILL SHEEP DOG TRIALS
NOVEMBER 8TH AND 9TH, 2008 (8 A.M. – 5 P.M.)

Bring your kids and dogs out to the farm to see 70 to 80 of the top Sheep Dogs on the East Coast. The Greater Charlotte Sheltie Club will also hold sport dog demos. Shop and enjoy kid’s games, traditional music, livestock, and tractors. All family members will be sure to enjoy the “Punkin’ Chunkin’” and the hay rides. Adult tickets are $10. Children ages 5 – 17 years are $7.

Rural Hill is a 265 acre historical site in Huntersville that was the original homestead of Major John Davidson and his family. This is also the annual location of the Lake Norman Highland Games and the Amazing Maize Maze.
