October 17 – December 10 – “Beloved Daughters: The Photographs of Fazal Sheikh” – Van Every/Smith Galleries, Katherine and Tom Belk Visual Arts Center – This exhibition brings together photographs and text from Fazal Sheikh’s two most recent book projects that explore the lives of women in India.

The Every/Smith Galleries are open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends from noon to 4 p.m. Programs are free and the public is welcome. For information, call 704.894.2519.

November 11 (Tuesday) - 2008-2009 Davidson College Concert Series, D’Anna Fortunato – Do not miss the performance of this awesome mezzo-soprano! Tickets may be purchased online, by calling 704.894.2135, in person at the Union Box Office (Monday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.), or at the door. The performance is held in Tyler-Tallman Hall, Sloan Music Center, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

November 19 (Wednesday) – 2008-2009 C. Shaw and Nancy K. Smith Artist Series, “Calo Flamenco: Ballet de Martin Gaxiola” – This is a professional flamenco repertory company based out of Phoenix, Arizona. With over 15 talented dancers and musicians, Calo Flamenco is one of the largest flamenco ensembles in the United States. Calo Flamenco creates a superior audio and visual experience that leaves audiences energized and awestruck! Tickets: General Public - $20; Faculty/Staff - $15; Students - $8. The performance is held in the Duke Family Performance Hall beginning at 8:00 p.m. For ticket information, call 704.894.2135.
