March 13 – April 15 “The Art of Chris Johanson” – Van Every/Smith Galleries, Katherine and Tom Belk Visual Arts Center – Chris Johanson is an American painter and street artist. He is a member of San Francisco’s Mission School art movement. Johanson’s works, expressing urban themes through found and recycled materials and graffiti, are a response to his suburban childhood. There will be an Opening Reception with the artist on Thursday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.
The Every/Smith Galleries are open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends from noon to 4 p.m. Programs are free and the public is welcome. For information, call 704.894.2519.

March 12 (Thursday) – 2008-2009 C. Shaw and Nancy K. Smith Artist Series, “Celtic Crossroads” – Having run for three successful seasons in Ireland and receiving standing ovations throughout the United States in 2007, Celtic Crossroads has decided to bring their fascinating theatre concert back for an encore tour. A spectacle of talent, the cast of Celtic Crossroads displays how Irish music influenced the global birth of a multitude of musical genres.

March 27 – 29 and April 2 – 4Company (Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim) – Winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, for its original Broadway production and awarded a Best Revival of a Musical Tony in 2006, Company is as contemporary and relevant as ever. The Departments of Theatre and Music join together to produce this Tony-award winning musical about the pleasures and pitfalls of love.

Tickets: General Public - $15; Seniors - $11; Faculty/Staff - $9; Students - $6. All performances will be held in the Duke Family Performance Hall: March 27 (Friday) and March 28 (Saturday) at 8:00 p.m.; March 29 (Sunday) at 2:00 p.m.; April 2 (Thursday) at 7:30 p.m.; April 3 (Friday) and April 4 (Saturday) at 8:00 p.m. For ticket information, call 704.894.2135.
