March 7 – April 3 – Senior Art Major Exhibitions

Senior art majors at Davidson College will mount exhibitions of their work throughout the spring semester in the Smith Gallery of the Belk Visual Arts Center.

March 10 - April 14 (Tuesday) – New Works by MacArthur Freeman, II, William H. Van Every Gallery (Belk Visual Arts Center)

Freeman uses his cartoon-inspired paintings as cultural commentary. He is in the second year of a two-year appointment as visiting artist at Davidson College. Freeman will speak about his work during an opening reception on Thursday, March 9, from 7-9 p.m.

NOTE: Both the Van Every and Smith Galleries are located in the Belk Visual Arts Center at the corner of Main and Griffith Streets in Davidson. The galleries are handicap accessible, and free parking is available at the southwest corner of the building. All exhibitions are free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and noon to 4 p.m. on weekends. March 14 (Tuesday) – The Davidson College Concert Series

The Davidson College Concert Series presents Bulgarian born musician Svetoslav Stoyanov, winner of the 2003 Concert Artists Guild International Competition. Stoyanov captivated audiences with his virtuosic technique both on the marimba as well as a wide variety of other percussion instruments. As an active performer dedicated to chamber music, he has concertized with the Peabody Percussion Group in addition to other chamber ensembles. General admission is $20, and the concert begins at 8 p.m. in Tyler-Tallman Hall of the Sloan Music Center. Please call 704.894.2357 for information.
