Town of Davidson Events

Fourth of July Celebration

July 4 (Friday) McEver Field (South Street), 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. – This annual fun-filled evening will begin with a small town parade at 5:30 p.m. from the Town Hall and end at McEver Field. We encourage everyone to come out and march in the parade dressed in your best Independence Day attire. At McEver Field, festivities will include a children’s amusement area, stage entertainment, concessions, and the most spectacular fireworks show in the Lake Norman area. The Summerdaze Band performs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. This is a family event, so come early and bring a blanket or lawn chairs.

Free parking is available at parking lots along Main Street, Davidson United Methodist Church, the old Cotton Mill, and Davidson College’s Baker Sports Complex. The town will provide free shuttle service from each site. (Please note that parking for this event is NOT permitted at Davidson Elementary School, Calvary Presbyterian Church, McEver Field, or along South Street. The Greenway at Avinger Lane will also be closed to traffic.) For more information, please call Davidson Parks and Recreation at 704.892.3349 (ext. 261).

Important Note: Due to the expected large crowds this year, a wristband will be required to gain admission to the event. For residents, these wristbands are free and may be picked up at Town Hall or the Recreation Department through Wednesday, July 3. Non-residents will have to wait until the night of the event to get a wristband at a cost of $5 each. (Children under 3 are free.) Wristbands will be available at main checkpoints into the site: Walnut Street at Spring Street and South and Spring Streets. The Town of Davidson will operate two lines at the ticket booths – one for residents and one for non-residents.
