The Men’s Basketball team has thrilled Wildcat fans this year with a season record at printing of 18-4 (9-1 in the Southern Conference). If you have not attended a game this year, you have missed some good basketball. Coach Bob McKillop won his 300th game on January 27.

By the way, did you know that one of our own neighbors, Hollis (Hobby) Cobb (Twain Avenue) was a Davidson Wildcat from 1952 until 1956? If you’re having lunch or a snack at the Soda Shop on Main Street, you can sit at the back booth right beside his photo on the wall (Number 21)! I hear he was a pretty good player! You will likely find Hobby at just about every Wildcat game during the season. Hobby was the original editor of the newsletter and still helps with Davidson College and town information, particularly regarding sports events.

Hint: If you decide to play in a pick-up game of hoops, make sure Hobby is on your team. Basketball players never loose the “touch.”

The Oak Row Report is a monthly compilation of public events at Davidson College. To receive this publication at no cost, contact News Director Bill Giduz, Office of College Communications, at 704.894.2244. You may also access the events calendar at www.davidson.edu.
