Davidson College Events

October 17 – December 10 – “Beloved Daughters: The Photographs of Fazal Sheikh” – Van Every/Smith Galleries, Katherine and Tom Belk Visual Arts Center – This exhibition brings together photographs and text from Fazal Sheikh’s two most recent book projects that explore the lives of women in India. [Note from the Editor: I have attended this exhibit and highly recommend it. However, there are some pictures that are probably too graphic for small children. It is a powerful statement on Indian culture as are the two books by Fazal Sheikh that are the basis for this display.]

The Every/Smith Galleries are open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends from noon to 4 p.m. Programs are free and the public is welcome. For information, call 704.894.2519.

December 7 (Sunday) – Alternative Gift Fair (2:00 – 4:00 p.m.) – Davidson College invites the public to shop for self-development goods, services, and animals for people in need throughout the world during the Alternative Gift Fair on Sunday afternoon. The event will be held in the Brown Atrium of the Alvarez College Union. For information, call 704-894-2423.
