The 2010-2011 school session is underway!

“The Big Picture(s)” - Van Every Gallery, Katherine and Tom Belk Visual Arts Center – Large-scale works from the Davidson College Permanent Art Collection are currently on display. Visit the college website and click on “Arts and Culture” for more information regarding upcoming exhibitions.

The Every/Smith Galleries are open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends from noon to 4 p.m. Programs are free and the public is welcome. For information, call 704.894.2519.

September 21 (Tuesday) – 2010-2011 C. Shaw and Nancy K. Smith Artist Series, “An Evening with Rockapella” – Rockapella reached its first milestone as a featured performer on the PBS television special “Do It A Cappella,” hosted by acclaimed filmmaker Spike Lee. Rockapella are the progenitors of a new flavor of contemporary pop music. For one night only, they will be sharing their talent and infectious energy with Davidson! Don’t miss this exciting start of another great season. Tickets are on sale now. Tickets (single-performance): General Public - $20; Faculty/Staff - $15. The performance is held in the Duke Family Performance Hall beginning at 8:00 p.m. For ticket information, call 704.894.2135. October 3 (Sunday) - 2010-2011 Concert Series, “Alan Black, Cello” – Alan Black, principle cellist for the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, along with violinist Rosemary Furniss and pianist Dana Protopopescu, will open the Concert Series season with a program of chamber music by Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, and Brahms. Tickets may be purchased online, by calling 704.894.2135, in person at the Union Box Office (Monday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.), or at the door. Subscribe to the Concert Series and receive a discount!
