Neighborhood Alert

At approximately 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28th, there was an attempted abduction of a teenage girl on North Downing (near Concord-Davidson Rd) in McConnell neighborhood. The girl was physically O.K., but quite shaken.

The girl was outside trying to gather her cats for the night when she encountered a man dressed entirely in black: black running suit, black gloves and a black knit cap. The man was petting her cat and commented about how nice the cat was and then walked off. As the girl then proceeded to get her cats, the man moved quickly towards her, pulling his hat down to cover his face, and proceeded to grab her and put his hand over her mouth in an attempt to silence her screams. She kicked, scratched and tried to claw herself away from him and, as he attempted to throw her to the ground, she was able to stumble away and escape back into her home.

Police are investigating and a sketch artist has produced a profile of the perpetrator (see left).

The man is described as a white male, approximately 5′8″ to 5′10″, slight-of-build, with a "salt & pepper" goatee and possibly similarly colored hair. It appears the man was spotted a bit earlier in the neighborhood as well as near St. Alban's Church in the New Neighborhood.
